Dr. Marc Claydon was born and grew up in Western Nevada County, graduating from Nevada Union High School in 2002. After completing an associate’s degree at Sierra College, Marc had a career in the United States Navy with Helicopter Squadron 44 as an Avionics technician stationed in Mayport, Florida. A deployment in 2007 took him to a combat zone in the Middle East aboard the USS Taylor FFG-50. He was involved in anti-submarine warfare and counter terrorism and piracy missions as part of the Global War on Terrorism.
During his enlistment, he completed a bachelor's degree, graduating magna cum laude from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He completed his enlistment as a Petty Officer Second Class, receiving six achievement medals for excellence, as well as meeting the love of his life, Sara.
Dr. and Mrs. Claydon and their new son, Jack, then moved across the country to the Bay Area to start a career in medicine at the California School of Podiatric Medicine. While working on his medical degree, Marc was blessed with three more children, Skylee-Ann, Max and Zeek.
After graduation, Dr. Claydon began residency at St. John’s Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan, specializing in Foot and Ankle reconstructive surgery . While in Detroit, he completed over 20 different specialty rotations with an emphasis in Orthopedic surgery. His training also included total ankle replacements and groundbreaking peripheral nerve stimulation for diabetics and trauma patients.
While in Detroit, Marc and Sara founded Michigan Woodworking, specializing in custom made furniture crafted from sustainable woods. They plan on bringing their expertise to our community. Marc and his family also enjoy dirt bike riding and camping excursions.
Dr. Claydon looks forward to joining his family, which includes his father, Dr. Chris Claydon, mother, Nurse Practitioner Susan Claydon, brother, Dr. Nathan Claydon and sister in law, Dr. Elizabeth Claydon in a tradition of excellence at the Claydon Medical Group as founder of the Foot and Ankle Surgeons of Northern California.
